I LOVE visiting new places! Some of my favorites have included the Jersey Shore, Florida, Hawaii, Mexico, Aruba, and the Bahamas. Yes, pretty much anywhere the weather is warm and I can sink my toes into the sand. There's something about the beach that is like no other -the smell of salt air, with waves crashing down, and seagulls calling out in the distance. I even went so far as to name my dog Gull, isn't he cute?
Okay, truth be told, he was actually named after a Nora Robert's character, Gull, in Chasing Fire (a favorite book of mine), but I digress...
My favorite beach, by far, would be Anna Maria Island. It is a 7 mile stretch of pure heaven! I was actually vacationing in Clearwater, FL with my family, and a waiter recommended the spot. Bean Point is the very tip of the island and is a hidden gem. We parked in a neighborhood and found a small path leading to the ocean, and once we emerged from the tall sea grass -wow, what a breathtaking beach! The sand was a soft, white powder and the water a stunning, turquoise blue. We swam in the warm, crystal clear water through the gentle waves, as tiny schools of fish passed by us. We saw sand cranes, dolphins, and even a manatee! If you are in the area, I would highly recommend a visit. Here are a few photos-
Hoorah!
