Looking for some rest and relaxation? Wrightsville Beach may be the place for you! I recently traveled to North Carolina to meet up with six of my girlfriends for vacation. We rented a beach house and had so much fun! We had originally considered the Outer Banks, but wanted to avoid the crowds and have our experience to be less touristy. The beach was beautiful with not too many people. The sand was soft and the seashells plentiful. I especially enjoyed watching groups of pelicans fly up and down the beach!
Here are a few spots not to miss, when visiting this charming town-
Johnnie Mercer's Fishing Pier
Johnnie Mercer's Fishing Pier is located on Wrightsville Beach and offers some incredible views and great fishing. They have a cute, little souvenir shop too!
The Shark Bar and Kitchen
As quiet as the town is, it does have a good share of restaurants and bars to visit. One of our favorites was the Shark Bar and Kitchen. It had a fun atmosphere and a good selection of fresh seafood and drinks. Oh, and I highly recommend their Key Lime Pie -heavenly! Shout out to our waitresses Rachel and Ashton for their excellent service!
Wilmington, North Carolina
Wilmington is a must see, nearby, quaint town with cobblestone streets, a riverwalk, fine food, and lots of shops! One place not to miss would be T. S. Brown's Jewelry, which had a wide variety of unique pieces that were reasonably priced. The sales associates were super nice and all seven of us ended up walking out with a stunning new piece of jewelry! We dined at Elijah's for lunch, which overlooked the Cape Fear River. Our server, Gabriel, was superb and the crabcakes I had were absolutely delicious!
Sky above, Sand below, Peace within
The majority of our time was spent lounging in the beach house or out on the beach. Warm sun, sounds of seagulls, and smell of the salty sea breeze... I think I've lost count of how many times we've said, "I want to go back!"
